About Loocie
Loocie
Acupuncture saved me from extreme pain that drugs could not fix. Now I want you to experience the same care and relief.
As a dedicated teacher with a Master’s degree in Education I’ve always used my head, but my head lead me to a major life evolution in an unexpected way. In 1986 I collided head-first into a concrete swimming pool wall, bringing persistent, terrible, and debilitating pain. Western medicine was not effective for me but my very first acupuncture appointment brought my pain to a manageable level and started the healing process. As an educator by trade I had to know more and began initial studies of acupuncture in 1987.
Career Transition
I temporarily dropped my role as a teacher and became a full-time student of acupuncture in 1990. I earned a Master’s degree in Acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture (N.E.S.A.), the oldest and one of the most highly accredited institutions of Asian Medicine in the U.S. After graduation I gained national board certification and opened my practice in 1993. I completed my doctorate in Integrative Medicine and Pain Management in 2021.
Further Practice, Education, and Teaching
For 15 years, I taught Acupuncture as a N.E.S.A. professor and mentored 75 students in my private clinic. While teaching and studying in China and Japan, I deepened my education in herbal medicine and acupuncture techniques. I have shared this knowledge with both the public and the medical staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Emerson Hospital’s Integrative Health and Wellness program. Currently, I offer public and professional seminars and workshops on the integrative approach to healthcare.
Full Circle
Now, in my practice, just as in my teaching, I focus on the subject (a.k.a. YOU) – querying, listening and observing. Compassionate care is my focus. Together, we partner to foster improved wellness.
